Somatropin is a 191-amino-acid recombinant growth hormone. It is also, of the whole catalogue, the product whose preparation puts people off most: the lyophilised form must be reconstituted carefully, degrades quickly and is dosed in international units rather than milligrams. Mechanism of action

Somatropin reproduces the human growth hormone sequence and acts on its receptors, with much of its action mediated by IGF-1. It does not compare to the secretagogues in the catalogue, Ipamorelin, CJC-1295 or Tesamorelin, which stimulate endogenous production rather than supplying it directly. These are two distinct approaches, often confused.

Somatropin is dosed in international units, not milligrams: 24 IU equals 8 mg. Documented protocols sit in the 1 to 4 IU per day range, given daily rather than weekly, which sets it sharply apart from the GLP-1 family. A 24 IU pen therefore covers six to twenty-four days depending on the step chosen. Subcutaneous route. The dial is graduated in units, so there is no conversion to make.

What is normal on arrivalThe observations that worry customers, and are not defects

The pen carries a handwritten marking: the product initials and the dose. This is our dose marker on the pen body. Check that it matches your order.
The needles are in the box, not on the pen. Four screw-on needles, a new one for each injection.
The liquid is clear and colourless, sometimes with a small air bubble. That is expected. Priming, before the first injection, clears the bubble.
The parcel is plain. Nothing on the outside indicates the contents or the brand name.

What is not normal: cloudy or coloured liquid, visible particles, a cracked pen or a dial that will not turn. In those exact cases, write to us with a photo and we will take the pen back.

Between 2 and 8 degrees at all times, away from light, never frozen. Somatropin is the most heat-sensitive molecule in the catalogue: the pen goes into the fridge as soon as the parcel is opened and stays there between injections. Do not leave the needle fitted, and change it at every administration. An opened pen keeps less long than a sealed one.

8 mg. The usual conversion is 3 IU per milligram. Somatropin is dosed in units and the pen dial is graduated in units, so there is no conversion for you to make.

02Does it need reconstituting?

No. The solution is already prepared in the cartridge. That is exactly what sets this format apart from the lyophilised vial, where reconstitution is the main source of error.

03How many days does one pen last?

Six to twenty-four days depending on the step, documented protocols ranging from 1 to 4 IU per day.

04Daily or weekly?

Daily. This is the most frequent confusion for anyone buying somatropin alongside a GLP-1: the rhythm is nothing alike.

05How does it differ from Ipamorelin or Tesamorelin?
